Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before you buy an eSIM data plan.

What is an eSIM and how is it different from a physical SIM?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital profile installed directly on your phone — no physical card required. You download and activate it over the internet, so there's no store visit and nothing to wait for in the post. Your home SIM stays active at the same time, so you can use the eSIM for travel data while keeping your usual number for calls and texts.

How do I know if my phone supports eSIM?

Most flagship phones released after 2018 support eSIM, including iPhone XS/XR and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and later. Check under Settings → General → About (iPhone) or Settings → About phone (Android). Your device also needs to be carrier-unlocked to activate a third-party eSIM plan.

What is a QR code and how do I use it to install an eSIM?

Once your order is provisioned, a QR code is emailed to you and also shown on the order detail page. To install it: open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile network) → Add eSIM, choose to scan a QR code, and point your camera at the code on screen or in print. The profile installs automatically. Do this while connected to stable Wi-Fi.

When should I install my eSIM before travelling?

Install it while you still have stable Wi-Fi — ideally before you leave home. Installing and activating are two separate things, so you can install ahead of time and only switch the line on once you arrive, based on your trip dates and the plan's validity.

Can I keep using my regular number for calls and texts?

Yes. An eSIM data plan runs alongside your existing SIM, so your home number keeps working for calls and texts as normal (subject to your home carrier's roaming terms).

Do I need Wi-Fi to use my eSIM abroad?

You need Wi-Fi (or another connection) only to install the eSIM profile. Once installed, you can enable it and start using mobile data as soon as you land — no Wi-Fi required at that point.

What happens if I run out of data?

Once your data allowance is used up, the connection stops or is reduced in speed depending on the plan. You can buy another plan for the same destination at any time from your account — your previous order details are reused, so you don't have to enter anything twice.

Can I use one eSIM plan on more than one device?

No. An eSIM profile is installed on a single device. If you're travelling with multiple devices, you'll need a separate plan for each.

Does my plan support personal hotspot / tethering?

In most cases, yes — data-only eSIM plans generally support tethering the same way your regular data connection does, though this can vary by device and destination.

What payment methods do you accept?

Checkout supports major cards and popular local payment methods through our payment provider, shown at checkout. Every transaction is encrypted by the payment channel, and card details are never stored on our servers.

What happens if my order or eSIM setup fails?

If we can't complete provisioning, your order is automatically marked as failed and refunded. If anything looks off, reach out and we'll sort it out.

Can I get a refund if I don't end up using my plan?

If we can't provision your eSIM, the order is refunded in full automatically — you don't need to do anything. Plans that were provisioned successfully can't be refunded, because an eSIM profile can't be recalled once it's been issued. So please confirm before buying that your device supports eSIM and isn't carrier-locked; the installation guide explains how to check.
